Over the past seven years, KPN Senior Hospital Co., Ltd. has consistently grown and built strong trust among its service recipients. The company has undergone a transformation from merely providing services to becoming a comprehensive healthcare solution for the Thai population. With the vision of becoming a public company, this goal extends beyond entering the stock market—it aims to establish itself as a global healthcare solution for people of all ages.
Dr. Gengpong Tangaroonsanti, Director of Chersery Home International Hospital for Elderly Care & Rehabilitation and CEO of KPN Senior Hospital Co., Ltd., highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the rapid growth of the senior care market at the national, regional, and global levels, has driven the company’s transformation. Over the past 2–3 years, the organization has expanded beyond rehabilitative care to focus on preventive and wellness solutions, aligning with emerging global healthcare trends. This strategic shift positions KPN Senior Hospital as a leading Senior Destination for people worldwide.
Maintain Core Strengths
Dr. Gengpong Tangaroonsanti further explained that KPN Senior has structured its services to address three key areasStrengthening Core Services
The first focus is on existing flagship services, particularly Chersery Home Hospital for Elderly Care & Rehabilitation, which specializes in accelerated recovery for bedridden patients and post-surgical rehabilitation for complex cases such as neurological, cardiac, and pressure ulcer management. To expand accessibility, the company plans to establish additional facilities in six strategic locations across Bangkok and its metropolitan areas, including Bangna, Minburi, Kaset-Nawamin, Chaeng Watthana, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.
Additionally, The Senizens Senior Wellness & Rehabilitation Center, a large-scale facility, is designed with specialized buildings to cater to different medical needs.
Building 1 focuses on dementia, Alzheimer’s, and memory care, with internationally accredited service standards ensuring the highest quality of care.
Building 2 houses the Stroke Rehabilitation Center, offering comprehensive care for stroke patients, including large-scale rehabilitation clinics and hydrotherapy services.
Looking ahead, KPN Senior plans to establish additional specialized international-standard centers, including:
Palliative Care Units, providing continuity of care for patients transitioning from major hospitals to recovery-focused environments.
Mood & Mind Rehabilitation, a comprehensive mental health and addiction recovery program, addressing both substance dependence and emotional well-being.
With these expansions, KPN Senior aims to solidify its position as a leading integrated healthcare solution for the elderly and beyond.
Expanding the Healthcare Franchise
Dr. Gengpong Tangaroonsanti continued, stating that the second part of their strategy is the BAAN THAMMACHART By Chersery Home franchise, which operates as a nursing home with international standards. Currently, there are two branches in Bangkok and the metropolitan area, with plans to expand to 30 locations over the next 3 to 5 years. Future expansions will include provinces such as Pattaya (Chonburi), Chiang Mai, Hat Yai (Songkhla), and Phuket, with a target of 600 beds nationwide within 3 years. The company has partnered with Muang Thai Life Assurance and Generali to provide coverage for insurance claims.
Home Care Market Expansion
The third component is the Home Care service, which has been operational for about a year. This service focuses on providing caregivers at home, recognizing that home care is both more affordable and effective. In 2022, they launched HARMONI Homecare, offering four types of caregiving services:
Caregiver services for general elderly care, in collaboration with nursing schools to ensure quality.
Nursing Assistant services for more complex cases, such as bedridden patients or those requiring tube feeding.
Nurse services for patients with more difficult care needs.
Physical therapy services for rehabilitation.
The system includes background checks, additional elderly care training, and a telemedicine consultation service backed by staff from Chersery Home Elderly Hospital. If patients experience complications, such as fever, cloudy urine, or loss of appetite, they can receive immediate assistance through Healthcare@Home. The company aims to provide this service to 1,000 families within the next 3 years.
Dr. Gengpong Tangaroonsanti stated that the home care industry currently lacks a clear market leader, despite the fact that elderly care at home is one of the most in-demand services in the country, with over 90% of families preferring this option. Thai culture generally avoids sending elderly loved ones to nursing homes, and home care solutions address the growing need in an aging society, where people are also looking to reduce costs. Additionally, the company plans to launch HARMONI Mobility in collaboration with Toyota Motor Thailand, creating specialized vehicles that can transform into wheelchairs for patients who need to travel outside. This service will cater to a customer base of over 50,000 families in Bangkok, all seeking professional, comprehensive, and affordable home care services.
Looking ahead, the company aims to introduce a marketplace service for home delivery of essential products, such as elderly diapers, medical-grade milk, and healthcare supplies, offering high-quality goods at affordable prices. This service is expected to launch in the next two years. Additionally, they plan to start a medical equipment rental business, providing cost-effective, high-quality healthcare tools as a complete solution for Thai people. There are also plans to invest in a digital platform that will track health metrics, such as sleep patterns, stress levels, and underlying health issues, ensuring comprehensive care for customers—acting as a personal health assistant that understands and earns trust.
Launching a Health Food Product
Dr. Gengpong Tangaroonsanti concluded by stating that from 2023 to 2025, KPN Senior will expand into the health food market, starting with its first product: "Sunroot Root Powder Drink" under the Inulio brand. This product is based on research from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chulalongkorn University, which has successfully extracted high-quality fiber called Inulin. This fiber promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut and has earned international awards. The market value is estimated to be no less than 100 million baht, with significant profitability over the past two years. This product enhances the company's comprehensive business model while contributing to the economy, supporting farmers, and fostering national innovation.
In the future, the company plans to expand the use of Inulin extracts into various forms and focus on prebiotics and probiotics as foods of the future. By bringing research from universities to the public in a sustainable way, this initiative will position the company not only as a provider of reactive services, but also as a solution provider to address the needs of everyone, creating a strong ecosystem for long-term growth.
